Material Overview
Brass is any alloy of mainly copper and zinc, however other products such as aluminium/lead can also be added, the proportions of zinc and copper can be varied to create a range of brasses with varying properties, there are however many types of brass which are too numerous to mention here. Brass tends to have a muted yellow color, somewhat similar to gold. It is relatively resistant to tarnishing.
Today almost 90% of all brass alloys are recycled. Because brass is not ferromagnetic, it can be separated from ferrous scrap by passing the scrap near a powerful magnet. Brass scrap is collected and transported to the foundry where it is melted and recast into billets. Billets are heated and extruded into the desired form and size.
Over a period of time each panel will form its own distinct and unique characteristic and over a period of time will continue to evolve and change in colour from an initial yellow to greenish brown tone and slowly turning greyish brown before finally a dark brown colour.
Brass is a offers outstanding mechanical abrasion resistance, extremely high corrosion resistance and durability as well as excellent stability and material rigidity, as such Brass is an alternative façade material that can offer something that bit different.
