The use of composite materials for the cladding industry began in the late 60’s when Alcan introduced ALUCOBOND®, this composite panel is made up of a polyethylene / mineral core sandwiched between 2 skins of 0.5mm thick aluminium alloy. There are now numerous manufacturers and suppliers of composite type materials offering a huge range of “skins” such as aluminium (ACM), zinc (ZCM), Copper (CCM) etc, as well as the different materials various colours and effects are also available such as marble, wood grain etc.
